Start with what needs to change

Tell us whether you are adding equipment, renovating, replacing existing equipment or planning for future demand. Share major appliance, HVAC, EV charging and business-equipment requirements so the conversation starts with the whole property.

A panel replacement and an increase in utility service capacity are different scopes. The responsible electrical professionals must review the existing installation and proposed demand before equipment size, available capacity or an upgrade approach is confirmed.

Plan around your property

Homes: identify additions, kitchen or laundry changes, garages, outdoor equipment and future electrification plans. Discuss access, finish protection and any planned interruption to household power.

Businesses: provide equipment requirements, operating hours, tenant or landlord responsibilities and acceptable shutdown windows. Identify critical operations and any temporary-power needs for review.

Multifamily properties: identify unit-level panels, shared equipment and building service separately. Include building and unit counts, occupancy, property-management contacts and the proposed access sequence.

What to send for a scope review

  • Project city, property address and the best contact.

  • Property type, intended improvements and target timing.

  • Available plans and manufacturer information for proposed equipment.

  • Photos of accessible equipment labels and surrounding work areas, with covers and compartments left closed.

  • Occupancy, access limits, known utility information and any bid deadline.

Start with the information you have. Use the inquiry form below for a short summary; confirm the preferred way to transfer drawings and photographs with the project team.

Understand the proposal

Ask for the included equipment and installation work, exclusions, design responsibilities, permit and inspection coordination, utility involvement and restoration of affected finishes. Confirm equipment availability, required approvals and outage arrangements before relying on a completion date.

Commercial project experience

At Jungle Pilates, Twins Engineering’s electrical scope included new panels, wiring, lighting and controls. See the electrical scope and original construction photograph on our commercial page, or explore the full Jungle Pilates construction gallery on 8 Pillars Concrete’s website, where the separate trade scopes are credited. For a broader tenant-improvement or construction package, use our commercial electrical bid checklist.

Texas project inquiries

We welcome panel and service-upgrade inquiries in Highland Park, Southlake, Denton County, Prosper, Aubrey and Celina, along with Dallas, Denton, Sherman and other North DFW communities. Send the property address, existing conditions and planned equipment additions. Austin and Houston projects are reviewed for scope, travel and mobilization. Our Frisco office is the contact point; availability is confirmed for each project.

Common panel-upgrade questions

Does every new appliance require a larger panel? Not necessarily. Existing capacity, proposed demand, equipment requirements and the condition of the system need a project-specific assessment.

Can you price the work from a photo? Photos can support an initial discussion, but they do not establish concealed conditions, capacity or a complete installation scope. A proposal should state what has been reviewed and what remains to be confirmed.

EV charging and your electrical panel

Planning a home EV charger in Frisco, Aubrey, Prosper or Celina? Start with your vehicle, daily driving, parking location and available charging time. The charger’s advertised maximum output is only one part of the decision. The vehicle’s onboard charging limit and the electrical supply also affect charging performance.

A Level 2 home charger commonly uses a 240-volt supply. A qualified electrical contractor should review the proposed continuous load, existing service, panel condition, circuit route and equipment instructions. Spare breaker spaces alone do not establish available electrical capacity. Do not remove a panel cover to gather information for an inquiry.

Panel replacement, service upgrade or load management?

These are different options. Replacing a panel does not automatically increase the capacity supplied by the utility. Depending on the installation, an appropriately selected load-management system may help accommodate EV charging within existing capacity. A service upgrade may be needed where the assessed demand or existing equipment requires it. The responsible provider must determine the suitable approach; a photograph cannot settle that decision.

What changes an EV-charger proposal?

Include the charger model, vehicle model, garage or driveway location, approximate route from the electrical equipment, wall finishes and any trenching or detached-building work. Identify plans for a second EV, heat pump, workshop or backup-power system. Ask the proposal to distinguish equipment supply, circuit installation, load management, permit and inspection coordination, utility work and finish restoration.

Compare charging options with our residential electrical planning guide and review generator and battery backup planning if charging must coordinate with other power systems. For technical background, see the U.S. Department of Energy’s home-charging guidance and EPA’s home EV charging overview.
